Pre-Tied Tanago Hooks – 4 JFL-Recommended Patterns
Four useful hook patterns, pre-tied and ready when you need them.
These replacement hook lines are made for tanago fishing, micro fishing, and other fine fixed-line small-species setups. Choose from four JFL-recommended hook patterns, each pre-tied with a fine pink #0.3 leader, so you can replace the hook section of your rig without tying a tiny hook at the water.
- Four purposefully different tanago hook patterns
- Pre-tied with fine pink #0.3 leader line
- One barbed option and three barbless options
- 6 pre-tied hook lines in every individual pack
- Single-pattern and four-pattern variety options
Which Tanago Hook Pattern Should You Choose?
| Hook pattern | Hook type | Recommended starting point |
|---|---|---|
| Shin-Hangetsu | Barbed | Very small targets, including juvenile or subadult bitterling |
| Akita Fox #0.8 | Barbless | Adult bitterling, gobies, and medium-size micro-fishing targets |
| Sode #0.5 | Barbless | Small fish when you want a longer hook point than the finer patterns |
| Sode #0.8 | Barbless | Slightly larger small species such as sunfish and small tilapia |
These recommendations are starting points, not hard limits. A smaller hook can still catch a larger fish. Choose according to the fish, bait, water, local regulations, and the way you prefer to handle and release your catch.

Shin-Hangetsu — Barbed
Shin-Hangetsu is a fixed-size hook pattern and is not labeled with a numbered hook size. Its extra-short point is designed for especially small mouths, making it a useful choice for juvenile or subadult bitterling and other tiny targets. It is the only barbed option in this four-pattern range.
Akita Fox #0.8 — Barbless
Akita Fox #0.8 sits between the extra-fine Shin-Hangetsu and the longer-point Sode patterns. Its point angles slightly forward without being especially long. It is a practical choice for adult bitterling, gobies, and other medium-size micro-fishing targets. The barbless point makes hook removal easier, although maintaining steady line tension is especially important when a fish twists or shakes.
Sode #0.5 and Sode #0.8 — Barbless
The Sode patterns use a longer hook point and are useful when targeting somewhat larger small fish or when you want a different holding profile. Choose Sode #0.5 for the smaller Sode option and Sode #0.8 for slightly larger small species such as sunfish and small tilapia. Both are barbless for easier hook removal.
Try All Four Patterns
The 4-Pattern Variety Set includes one 6-hook pack of every pattern: Shin-Hangetsu, Akita Fox #0.8, Sode #0.5, and Sode #0.8. It is a practical way to compare the four hook shapes and change your hook section according to the fish and water in front of you.
- 1 Variety Set: 24 hooks total, 6 of each pattern
- 2 Variety Sets: 48 hooks total, 12 of each pattern
- 3 Variety Sets: 72 hooks total, 18 of each pattern
Why Carry More Than One Hook Pattern?
Micro fishing becomes more precise when the hook matches the target. Fish size, mouth shape, bait, water, and how actively the fish moves can all affect which pattern feels best. Carrying more than one pre-tied option lets you change only the hook section instead of rebuilding the complete rig.
How to Use
- Carefully remove one pre-tied hook line from the package.
- Connect it to the terminal end of your finished tanago or micro-fishing rig.
- Add a suitable amount of bait for the hook and target fish.
- Keep light, steady tension while playing the fish, especially with a barbless pattern.
- After fishing, dry and store unused hook lines in a rig box or line organizer.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are all four hook patterns barbless?
No. Shin-Hangetsu is barbed. Akita Fox #0.8, Sode #0.5, and Sode #0.8 are barbless.
Does #0.3 refer to the Shin-Hangetsu hook size?
No. Shin-Hangetsu is a fixed-size hook pattern and does not carry a numbered hook-size label. The #0.3 shown on the package refers to the pink leader used on all four patterns.
Are the hooks already tied?
Yes. Every hook is pre-tied to a fine pink #0.3 leader and is ready to connect as the replacement hook section of a finished tanago or micro-fishing rig.
Are these complete fishing rigs?
No. These are replacement hook lines only. You will still need a suitable rod, main line, float, weights, bait, and the other parts of your setup.
Which pattern should a beginner choose?
Start with the fish you expect to encounter. Shin-Hangetsu is the finest barbed option for especially small targets. Akita Fox #0.8 is a versatile middle choice. The Sode patterns are useful when targeting somewhat larger small fish or when you prefer a longer hook point. Choose the Variety Set if you want to compare all four.
Can a small hook pattern catch a larger fish?
Yes. These recommendations describe where each pattern can be especially useful, not a strict fish-size limit. Fish size, mouth shape, bait, water, and technique all affect the result.
What is included in the Variety Set?
One Variety Set contains 24 hooks: 6 Shin-Hangetsu, 6 Akita Fox #0.8, 6 Sode #0.5, and 6 Sode #0.8.
